As the first guides to cycling on the Maltese Islands become available, now is a great time to explore these fascinating islands from a view point not possible by car. The mild and sunny climate together with gentle hills provide the cyclist with an opportunity to really appreciate the unique scenery of both countryside and sea views from the many cliffs on the islands. It is possible to combine a ferry trip or seaplane transfer with a days cycling on Gozo and still get back to your hotel in Malta for an evenings enjoyment in the many bars and restaurants!!
As the climate is temperate year round, ranging from 12C (54F) in winter to 32C (90F) it is easy to pick a season that best suits you.
Routes and maps are available ranging from beginners to the expert cyclist and bike hire is easily arranged. If you do intend to bring your own bikes make sure to notify the airline well in advance to make sure you meet the transportation requirements for the baggage hold. More information is available in “Cycle Malta and Gozo”.
Tours can include the many excellent swimming beaches on Malta and Gozo, as well as taking in the historic sites of the islands, such as Mosta, Valletta, Mdina.
